Orestone Manor, Maidencombe

Often overlooked by residents of Devon, the coast just above Torquay is totally unique and beautiful, with crumbly red sandstone cliffs, aquamarine coves and beautiful cliff top walks through verdant glens. Our stay in this issue (June/July 16) was at the impressive Orestone Manor, once home to John Calcott Horsley, Isambard Kingdom Brunel’s brother-in-law, which is situated at Maidencombe.
