Thurlestone Hotel – Nr Salcombe

Thurlestone Hotel was visited in October 2015, a great time of the year as it’s well out of the ‘tourist’ season, being peaceful but still warm enough to enjoy the lovely coastal scenery that surrounds the hotel.  Thurlestone Hotel has a long and distinguished history, attracting the best of London society in the early 1900s, – the Rev. Thomas Aday wrote in his guide to the district that ‘Thurlestone is a sure cure for brain fag’, a statement you’d find hard to better!   The Grose family have owned and run the hotel since 1896, and as you’d expect with such a long association with the hotel, there’s a level of service and attention to detail that’s seldom experienced.  Little thinks such as the maid bringing fresh milk round to the bedroom each morning for the tea tray, a basket of goodies for the dog.  Read more about the Editor’s visit below:
