Based in Shropshire, Penelope Timmis is an artist who is well known also in Devon. With work in galleries throughout Britain, she exhibits with Baxters in Dartmouth and with Cocoon in Honiton, also the Doddiscomleigh, Maynard and Colton exhibitions.
Trained in Shrewsbury and London, Penelope returned to painting 12 years ago. Since then she has won various awards including being short listed for the Daily Mail ” Not the Turner Award ” in 2003. Penelope also has won awards with the Society of Women Artists and the Royal Birmingham Society of Artists, being a member of both of these associations.
Penelope is probably known best for her cockerel and fowl paintings, however, she paints a variety of subjects. Colour and movement are strongly reflected in her work, thus her style is instantly recognisable.
